In a latest bold move urging for a change in nomenclature, Elon Musk has extended a staggering $1 billion proposition to Meta’s owner, Mark Zuckerberg, to rebrand Facebook.
This significant development unfolded in response to a post from the satirical news outlet BabylonBee, quoting Musk’s offer of a billion dollars to persuade Zuckerberg to alter the name of Facebook.
While confirming the essence of the proposal, Musk emphasized, “It would be a much superior name!”
This exchange marks another episode in the ongoing tension between the two tech moguls, with rumors of an anticipated face-off between Zuckerberg and Musk captivating the online community earlier this year. However, as of the current moment, the highly anticipated showdown is yet to materialize, as Zuckerberg has accused Musk of not approaching the matter seriously in a Threads post.
Musk addressed Zuckerberg’s allegations during a conversation with Joe Rogan, stating (as reported by TMZ), “[Zuckerberg] accused me of not being serious, and I said, ‘Listen, at the end of the day, I’ll fight you any place, anywhere, under any rules.’”
The billionaire also disclosed that Italy had offered to host the tech titans’ clash at the Coliseum. Musk shared, “Italy actually was willing to let us use the Coliseum,” adding, “I was like, well, can’t turn that down. Then I was like, well, if it’s going to be in the Coliseum, I like UFC and everything, but we don’t have tons of ads in UFC branding on the Coliseum ’cause it’s a place of great history. You don’t want to have it be all like NASCAR. And then Zuck pulled out.”
In a unique outreach to Wikipedia, Musk, under the guise of “accuracy,” expressed his readiness to contribute $1 billion to the online encyclopedia if it agreed to adopt the moniker ‘Dikipedia.’ The billionaire’s condition stipulated that this name change must endure for a minimum of one year.
