Everything I say leaks,’ says Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in leaked meeting audio. ‘It’s frustrating.

A leaked recording obtained by 404 Media appears to capture Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressing frustration over company leaks. “We try to be really open, and then everything I say leaks,” Zuckerberg reportedly said during an all-hands meeting. “It sucks,” he added.

Ironically, his remarks from Thursday’s meeting—where he complained about leaks—were also leaked to the press, as reported by 404 Media.

According to 404 Media, Mark Zuckerberg admitted he has to be increasingly cautious about his internal remarks at Meta, saying, “Everything I say leaks. And it sucks, right?”

His frustration comes as he faces a series of leaks, coinciding with his efforts to build ties with U.S. President Donald Trump following Trump’s November election victory.

Meta recently agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit Trump filed against the company after it suspended his accounts following the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, sources say.

Measures to Prevent Leaks: ‘Warnings and Firings

After the leaks, Meta’s Chief Information Security Officer, Guy Rosen, warned employees of “repercussions” for anyone caught speaking to the media, according to Mediaite.

“We take leaks seriously and will take action,” Rosen stated in an internal memo, which, ironically, was also leaked.

When information is stolen or leaked, there are consequences beyond the immediate security impact. Our teams become demoralized, and we all waste time that could be better spent working on our products and advancing our goals and mission,” Rosen was quoted as saying.

Rosen warned employees that Meta would “take appropriate action, including termination,” against anyone caught leaking information. He also mentioned that several employees had recently been fired for the same offense.

“We recently terminated relationships with employees who leaked confidential company information and exfiltrated sensitive documents,” the officer reportedly said.
